Lead Early Learning in Salem-Keizer Public Schools
Salem Keizer Public Schools (SKPS) seeks a strategic and relationship- centered leader to serve as their next Director of Early Childhood Education – an opportunity to shape early learning and influence student success from the very beginning. SKPS is one of Oregon’s largest and most diverse school districts and is deeply committed to creating environments where all students feel safe, nurtured, and included.
This Director role provides vision, leadership, and oversight for the district’s early learning programs, including state and federally funded preschool initiatives, with a clear focus on equitable access, kindergarten readiness, and long-term student success.
In Salem-Keizer, early learning is a central priority. With a large and diverse student population, the work requires both strong systems and deep partnership with families and community agencies. This role offers the opportunity to lead that work—strengthening access, quality, and alignment from preschool through the early grades.
SKPS is seeking a collaborative leader with deep expertise in early childhood education—one who leads with a strong commitment to equity and inclusive practices. The new Director will guide program design, oversee instructional quality, and use data to drive continuous improvement across early learning systems while strengthening partnerships with families, community organizations, and agencies.
Located in the heart of the Willamette valley, Salem offers access to some of Oregon’s most remarkable landscapes—just an hour from the Pacific Coast and within easy reach of the Cascade Mountains. Whether it’s hiking, skiing, or simply being outdoors, the region provides a quality of life that supports both balance and connection.
This is an opportunity to shape the earliest learning experiences for children. Few roles offer this level of scale, impact, and opportunity to influence student success from the very beginning.
